Mary Cotton of Burke, a retired U.S. Army officer "My number one reason for voting for Kaine is this incident with our current governor on the ultrasound bill. In this day and age, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard. We thought this kind of madness was over in the in the 1950s. I remember my parents talking about the days of the poll tax, a different way to suppress the vote. I don’t want to go back to those days, and I think Gov. Kaine will make sure we keep moving forward. I thought we were making progress, but it’s three steps up and two steps back, as we used to say in the military."
