Fairfax Celebrated

The Celebrate Fairfax Festival on June 8 gave a wide variety of fun exhibits and activities for everyone, human and non-human alike. Some of the events included a Dock Dogs Outdoor Big Air event. Residents would have their dogs chase a floating toy they throw into a 35-foot pool to see how far they would go. Among other Olympic style canine events were the long jump, high jump and speed retrieve.

On the next day, June 9, the Butterflies in Flight exhibit was introduced where all different kinds of butterflies would fly around the curious observers. Many of these onlookers were young children. That same day Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Unit 440 arrived to give the children the experience of being in a firetruck.

If music hit any of approximately 80,000 attendees at the Festival, then they could watch the The F.F.C. Caporales Universitarios de San Simon perform with lively enthusiasm June 9.

To keep mementos of this celebration of Fairfax people would make their way to the Studio One Screen Printing & Embroidery booth to pick up commemorative shirts. So as to keep with the uniqueness and diversity of the festival the artists at Studio One provided the choice of purchasing a variety of shirts.

There were also several booths representing charitable organizations such as Reach Out Rescue booth where dogs like Annabelle, a chihuahua/terrier-mix, would give patrons a kiss. This was in order to raise awareness to abused and abandoned animals across the area and the nation.
